Ice cream lovers left bitterly divided over new Skyline Chili flavored dessert

Chili may be best served hot, but soon it will be best served… cold?

Graeter’s Ice Cream is partnering with Cincinnati-based chain Skyline Chili to team up for a special edition ice cream, it was confirmed this week.

A listing and photo of the unique ice cream was shared last Tuesday on the grocery chain Kroeger’s website, but was promptly removed Wednesday afternoon, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Enquirer was able to get a screenshot of the pint, which showed it to be an ice cream that had hints of chili spice, crunchy oyster crackers and chunks of cheese in it — all staples of a Skyline Chili experience.

The pint was complete with an image of Skyline’s signature keg on the front.

Sarah Sicking, vice president of marketing and brand engagement at Skyline Chilis, told the outlet that the brand was “excited to work on a fun collaboration with (its) spice blend and Graeter’s ice cream.”

It’s unclear exactly when the specialty ice cream will be released, but Sicking told The Enquirer that it will hopefully hit shelves next year.

But fans have some mixed opinions when it comes to the new flavor.

In response to a post by The Cincinnati Enquirer on X, formerly known as Twitter, announcing the news, some were simply horrified.

“Just because you can doesn’t mean you should,” one person wrote.

Another agreed: ‘I would do anything for love, but I won’t do it.’

“I just threw up a little in my mouth,” wrote another.

Others, however, seemed daring enough to try it.

‘I think chilli powder could make a good ice cream flavour. May be permanent. It would be better if they lost the cheese and crackers,’ admitted one user.

Another commenter posted: “Strangely, I’m in.”

Skyline Chili is quite a popular chain in the Midwest, and it serves it in a unique way.

The chain plates their chili with heaps of shredded cheddar cheese, which is freshly shredded throughout the day, either on a plate or on top of a hot dog.

You can even get their famous chili in fresh, hot spaghetti.

The restaurant is also a favorite of May celebrities, including former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

But unfortunately, his love of Skyline Chili has backfired before.

Last year, the NFL star revealed on an episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce that he lost his 2018 Super Bowl ring in a pool of Skyline Chili.

He won the ring when his team battled The New England Patriots.

Kelce said he lost it while he and his brother were holding The Great Lombaby Games at the University of Cincinnati, where one of the activities was a game involving diving into pools of chili, according to CBS Sports.

“I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event,” Kelce said during the episode, according to the paper.

‘They couldn’t find it… We still need to find it. All of those things have now been thrown away, so I think we can safely assume that my Super Bowl ring is now in a landfill somewhere in the Cincinnati tri-state area. I didn’t think that would happen,’ he continued.

In response, Travis called his brother a ‘f****ng imbecile’.
