England bowlers Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue have been rested for England’s T20 international against India in Durham, with Luke Wood and Saqib Mahmood drafted in for the series opener.
Fast bowlers Archer and Tongue will sit out Wednesday’s game at Chester-le-Street following their participation in the New Zealand Test series, but will rejoin the squad for Saturday’s game at Old Trafford.
Lancashire quick Wood and Mahmood are the only players in the squad who did not start England’s last match, a seven-run defeat to India in the semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup on 5 March.
Just a day after Ben Stokes’ farewell to international cricket, England battle from Trent Bridge to Durham for the first of eight white-ball matches in 19 days against India.
England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook will lead an experienced team that boasts over 650 caps between them.
