Ange Postecoglou said Nottingham Forest fans sang that he would be ‘fired in the morning’, was “entitled to their opinion,” but insisted that his side was on the right track despite their Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland.
Forest fans led their song against the Australian after they were beaten 3-2 at City Ground, with Central Jutland, scoring twice from set pieces before a late third during the break.
The defeat means that Postecoglou is still without victory with four defeats from his six responsible matches since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, making him the first permanent forest manager to be Winless in his first six games in 100 years.
In a speech after the match, Postecoglou said, “Fans are disappointed, they have the right to have an opinion about it and I heard their opinion.
“Nothing surprises me anymore in football. I guess this is just the climate we are in and it seems that is how we go.
“But look, it’s something I can control. My responsibility lies to make sure we try to get some wins for this football club and move on with it.
“I get the mood around the place won’t be amazing, I understand people’s kind attitude at the moment, especially to me, but I never worry about. It’s not unknown territory for me.
“I really think we are on the right track and when we get through this period of uncertainty, we will be on a good path.
“I still think apart from their attitude to me that they were behind the team and I think that’s the important thing. Of course, I prefer people to be optimistic.
“If we start winning football games, the atmosphere will change.”
Ange Bemoan’s expensive recurring problems
While forest dominated the ball, they were unable to prevent Central Jutland from asserting their dominance from set pieces, something they have become known for in Danish football.
“It was a pretty similar goal to be honest, it was just us to let us down in the most important moments and then have a mountain to climb.
“I guess it’s the accumulation of things, just that way. It’s not as the goalkeeper has to make more savings.
“It’s something we have to try to unlock in terms of just appreciating the most important moments in a game and making sure we are fully focused on them.
“If you allow the opposition to score, just a matter of time they get the goal, it will be very difficult to win football games.”
Grading goals has been a clear problem for Forest since Postecoglou’s arrival, with 13 being sent in his six responsible matches. The club’s last clean sheet came in a 1-0 win over Manchester United in April.
“In the second half we dominated the game and put them under pressure. We couldn’t get the goal to unlock it.
“But again we shouldn’t be in that position.”

Sky Sports’ Adam Bate at City Ground:
The atmosphere at the end was uncomfortable, hardly how Nottingham Forest had wanted their big night to reach its emancipation. It had begun with nostalgia and pyrotechnics. Forest is back. It ended in criminal with calls to Ange Postecoglou to travel.
He is six games in this job, so at one level it is absurd. And yet, given the popularity of his predecessor and the undergoing reaction to his appointment, he needed an encouraging start to convince doubters. Instead, he has not won a single game.
Arsenal Away was a scary start, but a cup binding against Swansea, two matches against promoted teams and a welcoming fixture at home to Danish resistance in a Europa League they started among the favorites to win, gave a real opportunity for him.
Despite having dominated possession in these games, he has not been able to offer a vision of how he can improve the forest. In fact, some may claim that it is because of dominating possession in these games. This was not what their success was built on.
Maybe Forest has to develop away from their counter -attack approach, adding more to their repertoire if they are to move forward. But so far, it seems that they have lost what made them so good without adding any of the note. Too passive. Uncertain in both boxes.
Postecoglou insists that they are on the right track, but the sense of city land on Thursday night was that few would agree with this feeling right now. Regardless of the coach, there would be concerns. But for many fans, the verdict about Postecoglou is in.
