BBVA uses Android Enterprise for next generational tools

Editor is notE: Today’s post is by Manuel Cerillo Bermejo, Global Workplace Architect for mobile solutions at BBVA, a multinational bank with over 5,700 branches and offices in 25 countries. BBVA uses Android Enterprise to combine the implementation and control of its global fleet of over 100,000 mobile devices.

At BBVA, our workforce is facing IT operations towards complex challenges-but it often leads to exciting opportunities for problem solving. As a global bank with more than 120,000 employees across Europe, Asia and America, we are pushing ourselves to develop new solutions to manage business data safely across various international rules, streamline the development of several internal applications and secure trouble -free implementation to our extensive network of branch kiosque units.

With our operational landscape, we are always looking for ways to simplify, standardize and secure our mobile fleet. Android Enterprise has helped us speed up the growth of our Global Mobile Device Management (MDM) program, which allows more than 100,000 Android devices to be managed centrally, while our teams are productive and with the ever-necessary security of the financial sector.

Default Security and AI policies across all teams in all countries

Before Android Enterprise, our global mobile solutions were composed of fragmented systems in different countries. Regional discrepancies strained IT resources by requiring staff on -site troubleshooting. It was impossible to build a truly global system without centralized visibility, make device setup and security a constant challenge. We were unable to balance strong security with a good employee experience.

In Android Enterprise we found a business partner who helps keep BBVA secure – a critical target for any financial institution. Features like zero-touch registration and work profile created a digital shield for us and our global teams while helping ourselves streamline our operations and give our teams the modern tools they needed. Now our workforce is ready for the next era of work productivity driven by AI. Since mobile devices are where our teams will naturally use AI to increase productivity, we use Android Enterprise’s AI experience control to safely integrate Gemini with Google Workspace and control AI functionality based on regional compliance and data management requirements.

Android Enterprise’s generative AI controls ensure the safe use of AI experiences at work by providing granular control over various AI experiences. Administrators can also block or uninstall generative AI apps and use managed Google Play to define which applications can be installed. For web-based AI experiences, URL filtering policies can regulate access across managed devices. With these comprehensive controls, BBVA can control access points, provide a helpful employee experience and establish strong protection of business data in AI’s age.

One device, two profiles and zero compromise with experience

Balancing of robust security with a modern employee experience presents a common dilemma. While aiming for ease of use, organizations must contend with risks, such as employees downloading uncertain applications or sharing business data incorrectly. The impracticality of separate devices for business and personal use further aggravates this problem. Fortunately, Android Enterprise offers work profile for a lasting solution.

Employees can easily switch between their personal and work profile, ensuring that personal and business data remain separate. All work -related applications are available through our private, curated managed Google Play Store, ensuring that only authorized apps can be downloaded. We further improve the security of using Google Play Protect to verify our internal apps and provide valuable security feedback to our developers, all without compromising the smooth employee experience we have built.

Effortless scale for 100,000 units and beyond

Not only do we manage 100,000 units in each country with a single basic management solution – but also make it look easy. When we buy units, they are automatically registered in the BBVA system. Users create their devices and they are directly enrolled without any action from our IT team. Whether we are replacing lost units, creating new offices or expanding to new regions, Android Enterprise’s Zero-Touch registration has removed approx. 70% of the time we spent on the device’s delivery.

Every moment counts as we speed up BBVA’s development and build the next generation’s global tools for trouble -free operation in all regions. Android Enterprise is no longer just a component – it’s the engine that drives our mobility future. We invite other financial institutions to connect to the Android Partner Ecosystem to unlock new business opportunities.
