Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the player of the season in the Premier League.
The 31-year-old has scored eight goals and equaled the record for most assists in a single campaign alongside Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne with 20.
He wins the award for the first time in his career and becomes the first United player since Nemanja Matic in 2010/11 to receive the honour.
He is the seventh player to win the award at United, and the list of names also includes Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
Fernandes had already secured the FWA Footballer of the Year award and now adds another accolade to a historic season after helping United secure Champions League football.

Fernandes has beaten the title-winning Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice for the price.
Manchester City duo Erling Haalandwho is on course to win a third consecutive Premier League Golden Boot award with 27 goals, and Antoine Semenyo also missed.
Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Brentford striker Igor Thiago were the other nominees.

O’Reilly wins Young Player of the Season award
Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly has been named Premier League Young Player of the Season following his breakthrough campaign at the Etihad Stadium.
O’Reilly has played 34 games for Pep Guardiola’s side in the top flight, registering five goals and three assists in a variety of positions.
The 21-year-old progressed through the City academy after joining at the age of eight, and is now a fundamental part of the City squad, playing at left-back and in midfield.
He scored both goals as City beat Arsenal to lift the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium and also started in the FA Cup final win against Chelsea.
His performances at club level also earned him a first call-up to the senior England squad in November and he has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.
Team mate Ryan Cherki was another nominee for the award, as well Eli Junior Kroupi, Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall, Michadel Kayode, Kobbie Mainoo and Alex Scott.
