Mark Pettchey admits Emma Raducanu needs a permanent coach, but says it won’t be him.

Raducanu has had some positive results since connecting with former British No. 1 on an informal basis in March.

22-year-old reached the third round of Wimbledon after To give the world # 1 ARYNA SABALLKA A FRIGHT IN A SMALL 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 DEVATES.

But Petchey insists that his TV commentary obligations mean he can’t take on the role of full time.

“I think we are currently a little more in the short term,” he told Nothing Voved Podcast.

“She is training this week in London and her next tournament is Washington and she stays in the states all the time.

“Our situation is a bit fluid at the moment. I want to help her this week as much as I can, I have some other obligations I can’t get out of.

“We are very aware that she needs another coach to get on board and maybe just a coach, not me, too.

“All I try to do is ease the best possible environment for Emma to produce the tennis she can.

“Whether it involves me or does not involve me is not a question that I am worried about. We are just trying to find something that will be stable or good for her.”

The Sabalenka match thrilled a court in the late night and offered more encouragement that Raducanu can return to the level that led her to the US Open title in 2021.

“It was a fantastic tennis match,” Petchey added, 54. “It’s been pretty positive from a point of view, you can reflect on the fight was great and get feedback from people talking about it.

“I have sought statements from people I respect in the industry, coaches, asked them what they were feeling at the fight and what she could have done better, and it gives you a chance to formulate a plan in the future this week and in the future.”
