Lewis Hamilton admits he was left “shocked” by the “hardcore” five -place network he has received for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
Hamilton says he wants to “learn from it” and is “very motivated” to put together the earth, he loses on Sunday’s grid on his first Monza weekend as Ferrari driver.
Hamilton will start Ferraris Home Grand Prix no more than sixth after stewards at Zandvoort gave up that he had failed to slow down sufficient for double -barking yellow flags on his reconnaissance magazines for last Sunday’s grids.
Although the incident took place in the 30 minutes before the race started, it was not investigated until after its conclusion once they had spoken to Hamilton. The decision was made to drop him five places on the Monza network and release two points on his super license, in the hours after a race he had crashed.
When he talked about the sanction for the first time at F1’s arrival in Monza on Thursday, Hamilton replied when asked if he was frustrated by the time of the punishment issued: “Of course.
“I landed home and then saw that I had received this punishment and I was really, really shocked, to be honest.
“But that’s what it is. It’s obviously not black and white. The fact is if you look at [stewards’] Report, I lifted, but to their taste not enough, so that’s why I assume they don’t say anymore.
“To get the penalty and get penalty kicks was pretty hardcore, but I learn from it and there’s no sense of laughing at what I want to move forward.
“It will be challenging this weekend. Qualification is already so close between all of us. So just it’s good to get into Q3, it’s hard to get in the top five is very, very hard and on top of what needs to be put back five places is not great when you enter your first Monza GP with Ferrari.
“But it gives me more to fight for and I am very motivated to put together these places, regardless.”
