He is currently with the Sweden troop in front of their World Cup qualification. If he plays, it will be his first minutes of the season after he refused to be with Newcastle in an attempt to construct an exit.

Diaz left Liverpool to Bayern Munich earlier in the window for £ 65m, with Wirtz seen as his replacement. Darwin Nunez moved to the Saudi Arabian side al-Hilal, and Isaac now carries his left no. 9 shirt.

Between them, Diaz and Nunez played almost 300 appearances for Liverpool.

Jamie Carragher responds to Liverpool ending the move for Alexander Isaac on Deadline Day and analyzes how Arne Slot can line-up in the future

Carragher believes that Isaac and Yoane Wissa Transfer Sagas can lead to a “sad day for football” in the future – after both strikers went effectively on strike to get their move.

Talking to Sky Sports NewsCarragher said: “You look at Guehi, who was doing greatly well and still feeling a fan favorite at Palace supporters and the manager, who is also talking a lot about him. He will have to wait maybe until January now or next summer to get that step.

“Other players in this position of a year will look at how Isaac and Wissa have gone around and how it gives them a greater opportunity to get out – and it would be a sad day for football. Because I don’t think it’s been great how both players have led themselves.

“I have no trouble with players who want to leave a club – transfers happen and that is part of the game. It is understandable that these two players want to move on and play for bigger clubs to give them a better chance of their careers and win more silverware or maybe get more money.

Jamie Carragher thinks Liverpool will be disappointed to miss Marc Guehi but says Alexander Isaac was more important

“But I can’t help but believe that if anyone puts thousands of pounds into your bank account every week, you have to train and play.

“But would both of these players have moved if it wasn’t? We don’t know. Both players haven’t got it, they will, you have to get on to it. Let’s see what happens to both players for Liverpool and Newcastle respectively.”
