A disappointing week for Glasgow’s big two was worsened as Rangers, and Celtic played a forgetful goalless draw in the first old company in the new season at Ibrox.
After humiliating Midweek Champions League outputs, none of the pages could answer, with Russell Martin, still searching for his first league victory as Rangers head coach and Brendan Rodgers, now Winless in four consecutive derbies to Celtic.
Maybe avoiding defeat has bought Martin Under-Brand for a while, but his team never looked like a target threat of the day.
A first half of the quality of quality gave no chances, flashpoints or even any shots on target as John Souttar’s non -charged header was the only remarkable action in the opening 45 minutes.
The Reo Hatate eventually recorded the first attempt at targets on the timing, but no clear chances followed.
A dark week for Scottish football, with four pages failing to go from crucial European qualifications, got equally darker.
Based on the fact that these two teams are the best the country has to offer, Scottish football can fight to compete in Europe this season.
The old company does not match hype
There was the strangest atmosphere inside Ibrox, where Gers chairman Andrew Cavanagh and representatives of the club’s new US-based owners 49ers companies, including Vice President Paraag Marathe, were in the director’s box, and the whole party could not have been impressed.
Former Aberdeen -striker Bojan Miovski – signed from La Liga Side Girona on Saturday – was handed over his rangers – when club captain James Tavernier returned to right -back, with places for midfielder Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron and attacking Mikey Moore.
As widely expected, fan favorite and undoubtedly Rangers’ best player last season, Nicolas Raskin, were absent in the midst of speculation about his future.
Michel-Range Balikwisha, 24-year-old Belgian wings signed from Royal Antwerp, was handed over his Celtic debut while 27-year-old Uruguayan left-back Marcelo Saracchi, who joined this week from Boca Juniors on a seasonal loan, was on benches. Swansea target Adam Idah was missing from the troop as he approaches a step to Swansea City.
In the seventh minute there was a rangers penalty kick when Miovski and Celtic Defender Liam Scales collided inside the hangers, but Judge Don Robertson had none of it.
Chants for Raskin rang around the blue -covered sections of the stadium before half -hour field as a bad first half unfolded.
And cheers that followed Souttar on the way in a free kick from skipper James Tavernier, soon ended, then confirmed an offside.
There was little improvement at the start of the second half, with Rangers still playing more direct football than before this season.
In the 53rd minute, Gers left Djeidi Gassama Parkhead -defender Kieran Terney, who pulled the real flank, but his cross was sniffed out and ended in the hands of Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Gers keeper Jack Butland made his first real rescue on the hour mark, and it was a pleasant one from Reo Hatate’s long-distance drive before holding a main kick from Tierney.
In the 65th minute, James replaced the front and Shin Yamada Arne Engels and Balikwisha, with Tierney turned off Sarrachi.
Cyriel dessures and Oliver Antman came to Miovski and Moore, then Redim Bajrami took over from Thelo Aasgaard when Martin seemed to give energy again his marked side.
But the match ended speechless, where none of the pages deserved the victory.
