British # 1 Jack Draper has been paired with Jessica Pegula for the genimagated US open mixed doubles tournament after Paula Badosa withdrew while the world # 1 ARYNA Sabalenka also retired.
Jannik Sinner, who together with Sabalenka will defend their single crowns on Flushing Meadows from Sunday 24 August – Live on Sky Sports – is currently without a mixed double partner after Emma Navarro signed up to play in the US Open Heating event in Monterrey.
Sinner has until 1 p.m. 14 Sunday, August 17 to repair with an alternative partner to maintain a direct entry into the competition based on his single ranking, otherwise the world # 1 would have to rely on a Wild Card to compete.
Sabalenka initially had to compete with the wounded Grigor Dimitrov and has chosen not to pair with an alternative men’s game.
Traditionally, in the latter stages of Grand Slams, US open organizers announced earlier this year that they would hold the mixed double tournament over two days a week before the main tournament in an attempt to attract more high -profile players.
Mixed Doubles Championship takes place on August 19 and 20 with a reduced format of first-to-four game sets and non-AD scores, while there is $ 1 million. (£ 750,000) in prize money at stake for the winners.
The top eight teams with the best combined singles – ranking – which includes draper and pegula – qualifies directly, with eight additional teams getting wild card stains.
Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz have been confirmed as Wild Card posts, as well as the 24-time Grand Slam Master Novak Djokovic and his partner Olga Danilovic, while 45-year-old Great Venus Williams will compete with Reilly Opelka.
Two last interconnection of Wild Card has not yet been announced with Britain’s Katie Boulter and fiancé Alex de Minaur – ranked as 50. And eighth in the world – hope to demand one of the available places.
