National Hunt racing returns to Hereford today

The Sky Sports Racing cameras head to Hereford on Wednesday afternoon, with all seven races live from

2.30 Hereford – Knockanore and Despereaux header

A falling renewal of Hereford Bull Trail Launch 2026 Handicap Hurdle sees Knockanore and Despereaux headline a field of seven.

Despereaux landed a fifth career win when staying on to see off Tzarmix over this course and distance in December and must be feared from a 6lb higher mark on his return from a break.

The Ryan Potter graduate Knockanore took the Eider Chase last season but failed to follow up, finishing only seventh this year. He continues to lighten the weights and his trainer reaches out for flashes as they bid for a resurgence.

Dwight K Schrute has run respectably in defeat, including when second at Sedgefield on his last start, and he comes into calculations from 1lb lower in the weights. D’Jo Dela Barriere is back on his last win mark of 104 and must also be considered given his past success on the field.

4.30 Hereford – Consistent Emerald Breeze seeks first success

A decent field will assemble Coneley’s Theme Park Fun Fair Handicap Hurdle where Emerald Breeze seems to break his duck.

Dominic Elsworth’s campaign has run well without a win in novice hurdles this winter and has plenty of appeal on handicap debut with the step up in distance likely to suit.

Top Coeur rates a danger to Christian Williams and Jack Tudor. He makes his stable and handicap debut after showing ability in bumpers and over hurdles when training in Ireland and the market may be the best guide to his chances.

Vol Royale was disappointing after recording back-to-back wins on the last day and must shoulder top weight. However, Harry Cobden has a strike rate of 55 per cent when teaming up with coach Kayley Woollacott this term.

Of the others, Wolf Moon has undergone wind surgery, while Newbury third El Curamach is another to consider.

2.00 Hereford – Last winner Kingcormac features

Kingcormac headlines a field of seven for the opening Charity Partner We Are Farming Minds Handicap Chase.

Joe Tickle’s 10-year-old showed improved form to score over this course and 2m 5f distance earlier this month to land a third success over fences. A similar effort would see him go close despite a 6-pound increase in the weights.

Kapamazov yet to win in 20 starts over jumps but was not disgraced in all three races for Laura Morgan. He will be making his debut for Tony Carroll’s side and it would not be a surprise if he turned up for this astute coach.

David Bridgwater saddles Kitsilanothere was a winner in his penultimate race at Leicester. He was not beaten far when third at Plumpton last time and cannot be ruled out under Brendan Powell.
