A look at the ongoing effect of Google.org's projects in Latin America

Recently, our team on Google.org looked back on our recent full years of philanthropic collaboration in Latin America to measure the impact and results, and today we share some of what we learned. In 2024, a year when over 70% of people in Latin America said they could see the benefits of AI, Google.org gave more than $ 15 million in financing to help 400,000 people throughout the region transform this potential as possible. An important amount of this support went to AI-related initiatives with non-profit organizations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay focusing on three key areas.

1. Building skills for the future of work

A significant part of funding helped develop crucial digital and AI skills. Through supported organizations like the international Youth Foundation in Mexico, Identidades do Brasil and Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil, Cenia in Chile, Code in Peru, Fundación Estrategia País in Colombia, and Eidos Global and Chicos.net in Argentina, Our Programs Trained Individuals, Community Local, Regional and National Government Officials, Preparing Local Talent for The Growing Digital Economics.

2. Use of AI on social and environmental challenges

AI applied to sustainability and water control is a priority area where Google.org supports innovative solutions. In Brazil, the Instituto Clima E Sociedade launched a call for suggestions that drew over 400 ideas using AI and other technologies for climate and nature solutions. Furthermore, initiatives such as those from the Instituto Jataí, also in Brazil, use the Instituto Internacional de Manejo del Agua in Mexico AI to promote sustainable practice, which contributes to the region’s climate consumption and bioeconomy.

3. Promotion of media knowledge

By recognizing AI’s role in the information landscape, we also supported organizations dedicated to combating incorrect information. In Brazil, an initiative with the Instituto Palavra Aberta educators and students in media competence trained them with the tools to critically engage with AI-related content.

Support local experts on the ground

AIS global implementation can have a positive impact on society by improving healthcare, education, economic growth and more. Google.org is dedicated to providing funding, tools and education to help Latin American leaders, workers and students exploit AI’s potential for societal advantage.

In addition to this, we provided other forms of support in 2024. This included more than $ 67 million without cost advertising via AD grants to help more than 2,800 non -profit organizations to strengthen their work. In addition, nonprofit organizations received more than $ 18 million in workspace licenses for free, including access to the Gemini app and Notebooklm at no cost.

The true impact of this work lies in the hands of our supported organizations. Our goal in 2024 was to build on the incredible enthusiasm of AI in Latin America by supporting these experts on Earth.

To promote this momentum, by 2025, we have expanded Google to non -profit organizations that supply at no cost and reduced tools for eligible non -profit organizations, to 25 more countries and territories throughout the region.

By combining funding with access to our most useful tools – from ad – grants to Gemini – we can help burn the local innovation they are already leading to lasting changes in their community.
