Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Åberg have been sent first by Team Europe to Saturday Foursomes, with Captain Luke Donald, who stays with winning partnerships after a historic start to Bethpage Black.
Fitzpatrick and Åberg beat the world # 1 Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley the first morning, with Team Europe built an opening session lead in a Ryder Cup for the first time since 2004, when the couple now went out in the top match at
The European partnership faces New York native Cam Young and Bryson DeChambeau – who lost both of his matches on opening day as Donald holds his same four partnerships from Friday morning but sends them out in a different order.
Team Europe takes a 5.5-2.5 lead today two and requires another 8.5 points to preserve the trophy, or nine points for a first vault victory since 2012, while Keegan Bradley’s US team needs another 12 points over the past two days to victory.
Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood are facing a new match against Collin Morikawa and Harris English, as they sent 5 & 4 the first morning, with Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schaugffele – the only American page winning in Foursomes – against Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.
Scheffler holds his place despite losing both matches on opening day, with the four-time big champion again, who again plays with Henley against Robert Macintyre and Viktor Hovland.
Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Sepp Straka and Rasmus Hojgaard all sit out for Europe, while Justin Thomas – the most experienced player in the American team – is benched with Sam Burns, JJ Spaun and Ben Griffin.

Bradley holds positive as Donald celebrates “incredible” day
Team Europe captain Donald says his side had an “incredible” opening day at the Ryder Cup, while Bradley remains sure there is time for his page to be mounted a fightback.
“Winning this morning was huge for us and we all know how important it is to get started,” Donald said. “We know how strong the United States were in Foursomes.
“3-1 was a good start and especially the top two were such a good momentum and inspiration for our boys. The guys painted to win the session again this afternoon. That’s another cross in our box and I’m very happy where we are.”
Bradley added: “The boys played really well this afternoon. Europe made a lot of putts. Happy with the way we play. Hopefully it turns and our putts will go in tomorrow.
“We’ve only played 28 percent of points. This is the first quarter. We still have three quarters to go. I have a lot of faith in my boys.”
