While considering what new drink to try, Hernandez advises to keep these general tips in mind the next time you order:

  1. Control part sizes. “Just going down to a size can reduce calories, fat and sugar.”
  2. Reduce the sugar content. “Lower sugar modifications prevent high blood sugar and high triglycerides.”
  3. Select Dairy Settings with Lower Fat Contents or Non-Dairy Products. “Almond milk is the best option if you try to cut down on fat. Soy milk is for those who want non-dairy production due to lactose intolerance, but still want some protein. Oat milk is also a good non-dairy production for those with lactose intolerance, but the calories and the natural sugar content may be higher.”
  4. Ask for fewer pumps with syrups or use sugar -free alternatives. “Requesting fewer pumps allows for a decrease in calories and sugar. For example, 4 pumps of pumpkin spices syrup goes into a grand pumpkin spice latte that comes out to 390 calories, while only 2 pumps reduce calories to 300.”
  5. Jump over whipped cream or other high calorie toppings. “This will lower the fat content, which helps prevent heart -vessel diseases. If you are eager to add a little extra to your drink, go for a spice as cinnamon or nutmeg. If you really want a regular topping, ask for a lighter serving.”

“Ask for 2 pumps of sugar -free vanilla syrup and light pumpkin cream,” suggests Hernandez. This swap can cut the fat in half and bring the calories down to about 130. With that change, the carbohydrates will also be lower – about 25.5 grams.

Hernandez’s tip? Ask for only 2 pumps of pumpkin spice ice cream, non -fat milk and no whipped cream. It changes the nutrition image to 211 calories and 36.6 g of carbohydrates while still holding 9.4 g of protein.
